In its unwavering commitment to educational excellence and transformative contributions to higher education, Don Bosco College Maram, Manipur, has been bestowed the prestigious State Level College Award 2023. This accolade, presented by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Manipur, stands as a resounding affirmation of the college’s outstanding contributions towards the academic landscape of the state during the academic session of 2022-23.

In a luminous celebration of intellectual achievement and pedagogical distinction, the State Level College Award 2023 was conferred upon Don Bosco College Maram during the State Level Teacher’s Day Celebrations. The honour encompasses a commendation certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. Shri Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, the Honorable Minister of Education, Government of Manipur, bestowed the award to the erudite Dr Father K O Sebastian SDB, the Principal of Don Bosco College Maram. Adding an aura of distinction, Smti Rangitabali Devi IAS, the Director of Higher Education, State of Manipur, graced the event with her esteemed presence.

The State of Manipur has officially recognized and celebrated the indelible footprint left by Don Bosco College Maram in higher education. Emblematic of this recognition is the institution’s selection by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Paramarsh project to mentor five government colleges in the bustling city of Imphal. Remarkably, two of these colleges have earned the coveted accreditation from the National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC), underscoring the college’s commitment to excellence. Notably, responding to the clarion call from the Director of Higher Education, Manipur, Don Bosco College extended its mentoring prowess to 15 additional colleges within the state, thereby fortifying its role as a vanguard of quality education.

Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram’s impressive academic journey is punctuated by its distinguished NAAC accreditation, bearing a stellar CGPA of 3.35/4 at ‘A’ grade during the 3rd cycle. Notably, the institution’s laurels include being credited as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by the UGC on April 1, 2016. In 2020, the college was granted autonomy, further solidifying its status as a paragon of educational excellence.

Don Bosco College Maram is the second highest-graded college in the North East region, an honour second only to Cotton College of Guwahati, Assam. In a historic milestone, the college has been crowned as the inaugural Mentor College in North East India under the esteemed PARAMARSH initiative championed by the UGC.

Don Bosco College Maram has consistently garnered national and state awards, attesting to its unwavering pursuit of excellence. In 2018, the college clinched the National Award for the Best Team of Swachh Bharat Summer Internship (SBSI), bestowed upon them by the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. In a testimony to their commitment to community service, Mr. Daikho Dominic of Don Bosco College, Maram, was conferred the title of the Best NSS Volunteer by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovindin on 24 September 2019. The esteemed Minister of Jal Shakti, Honorable Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, graced the institution with the distinction of being the third National Swachh Bharat Summer Internship (SBSI) Programme recipient in the same year.

Further enriching its laurel-studded legacy, Sr. Sweta CCV of Don Bosco College, Maram, was bestowed with an award by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for hosting the best Red Ribbon Club to galvanize college youth towards the noble cause of HIV/AIDS awareness. Ms. Pretty Inkha, a luminary from Don Bosco College, Maram, donned the mantle of representing the State of Manipur at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. While Mr. Th. Shyamsunder Luwangasa stood as the Contingent Leader of the North East Region.

Don Bosco College Maram continued its march of excellence, receiving the State Level Award for the Best Team of SBSI in 2018 from the Honorable Chief Minister of Manipur. In 2019, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Ministry of Manipur cemented the college’s status as a vanguard of transformative educational initiatives.

The institution’s dedication to community welfare reverberated as it was recognized as a Swachhta Action Plan Institution by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

In 2021, the illustrious Father Dr K.O. Sebastian, was accorded the honour of recognition by Shri N. Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur, for his extraordinary contributions to advancing quality education and reshaping academic management in higher educational institutes across Manipur.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Don Bosco College Maram, a torchbearer of community engagement, received the prestigious NSS Award for the Best NSS Unit a feat that bears testimony to the institution’s unwavering commitment to social upliftment. Accompanying this honour, Sr. Sweta William Parmar was recognized as the Best Programme Officer, marking a dual triumph for the institution. These accolades were conferred upon them by the Honorable President of India on 24 September 2020.

A noteworthy demographic highlight underscores the institution’s dedication to inclusivity, as a staggering 98% of the college’s student body comprises Scheduled Tribes (STs), reflecting a commitment to bridging educational disparities.

In basking in the glory of the State Level College Award 2023, Don Bosco College Maram reaffirms its unwavering commitment to academic brilliance and transformation, emerging as a beacon of hope in the educational landscape of Manipur.
