The inaugural event held on July 5, was graced by Dr Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Meghalaya, in the presence of Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, TKM, Arun Lawaniya, Deputy Lead – State Initiatives and Capacity Building, ASDC, Father James Thyrniang, the Economer of Shillong Province, Father Arcadius Puwein, Principal, Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, Kishor Dass, Regional Manager and staff of Don Bosco Tech Society, Automotive Instructors and the students.

On this occasion, the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister stated that the initiative by TKM, in collaboration with the ASDC centre at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, will develop highly skilled, employable, and future-ready youth. She also expressed confidence that these efforts by industry partners like Toyota, aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission, will support bridging the existing skills gap and help develop a world-class workforce in Meghalaya.

The Country Head and Executive Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Vikram Gulati, said, “Automotive industry is growing tremendously, and since 2006 T-TEP has become a benchmark by adopting exceptional training modules, benefitting the automotive service industry and society. Through the T-TEP initiative, Toyota develops talented youth by equipping them with world-class training on advanced technologies. The collaboration with ASDC and Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, will strengthen the talent pool from the grass root level and provide opportunities for youth with a special focus on rural areas”.

Talking about the partnership, Father Arcadius Puwein, Principal of Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, stated, “With advancements in technology in the auto industry and unprecedented growth in motorization, we need to ensure that the consumers receive the best-in-class services, especially in rural areas. To align with this requirement, we will need highly skilled technicians, making it imperative that students at technical training centres have access to advanced technologies and gain hands-on training experience. With this collaboration, students at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, will understand Toyota’s values, best practices, and advanced technologies to benefit the students and the entire industry, thereby contributing toward the Skill India Mission.”

TKM has come forward to equip the Don Bosco Technical School with skill training initiatives as Don Bosco in India continues to skill the needy youth across the nation. Don Bosco Tech Society has, as of date, skilled more than 441000 youth in the country and continues with the skilling mission. You can support us here: https://donation.dbtech.in/
